However, although all of these artists depicted the same thing, namely a forest scene, each interpretation is as drastically different and unique as a fingerprint. Gustav Klimt's work, for example, focuses on decadent textures that make the viewer imagine the crunch of leaves and autumn sunshine. On the other hand, Van Gogh's depiction of forest art in his work 'Undergrowth with Two Figures' revels in the feelings of life and growth by use of brightly colored foliage. In the face of the rampant joy of spring, the two figures portrayed are oddly muted and unimportant. In addition to portraying the beautiful flora of nature, forest pictures typically contain some form of wildlife, in the form of animals. This makes forest art an excellent decorative piece for people who are interested in hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities. These type of paintings generally have animal subjects such as deer, wild cats, wolves, and other mammals. What makes forest art so popular is the soothing effect that the paintings have on the viewer. Themes of natural peace and tranquility are common in this form of art, as well as a sense of wonder at the glory portrayed in the calmness of undisturbed nature. However, some forest art can also be given a theme of spooky mystery, reminiscent of the shadowed forests where bandits and unknown creatures made their homes.
